Welcome to Dagun State School

We are a small school situated 20 kilometres south of Gympie. Our key objective is to provide a safe and positive learning environment to nurture the whole child through differentiated curriculum. Our multi-age classroom settings provide flexibility for staff to tailor learning to individual student needs. Curriculum for Prep to Year 6 has a central focus of achieving high levels of literacy, numeracy and science through a range of key learning areas. We engage in a three-way educational partnership including parents, teachers and child - to guide and prepare our children with confidence, skills and abilities to contribute as valuable citizens of our global community.

One of the greatest advantages of our small school environment is that students learn and develop respectful and caring interpersonal and communication skills. Old fashioned values of hard work, courtesy, good manners, honesty and at all times trying your best are highly valued and consistently reinforced in our school culture. Buddy systems work well at Dagun School which fosters a ‘family’ atmosphere where older students are encouraged to provide a caring, supportive role for younger students. At Dagun we take time to consider the needs and motivations of all students and value reciprocal help and co-operation. As a consequence, peer pressure and bullying are absolutely minimised and students develop a healthy respect for themselves and others.

At Dagun, students enjoy well established routines, behaviour management and excellent staff and community commitment. The learning and social environment for all students is evidently empowering and welcoming. Our School Opinion Survey results consistently reflect high parental, student and staff satisfaction and pride in our school, which contributes to a very positive foundation for a vibrant learning environment.
